The buck night mourns the groom's departure from bachelorhood. A long time ago, this was a most gentle black-tie dinner party. However, somewhere along the way this tradition didn't hold. Bucks nights are notorious for a no-holds-barred party complete with strippers and sizzling videos. The evening usually begins with a dinner or lunch and ends with an evening out on the town. Traditional venues revolve around pubs, nightclubs, restaurants or at home. However, an emerging trend in bucks nights is to do something that reflects the bachelor's interests (for example, watching a football match, going fishing, a round of golf or a day at the races). Other possible events could include a night at the casino where a portion of the winnings go to the groom. Bucks nights should be memorable, fun, well-organised and planned with care and sensitivity.
Having a buck's party the night before the Wedding just isn't realistic anymore. The bucks night should be held a minimum of one week to a month before the wedding – usually around the same time as the hens night. It is attended by the groomsmen, close friends and family (males only). The best man or a close family member is traditionally responsible for organizing and hosting the evening.
