Bonbonniere

Article Posted: 28 February 2008

Bonbonniere dates back to the early days of European history.  Guests were given five coloured almonds representing health, wealth, long life, fertility and happiness.

The bonbonniere was usually given out by the bridesmaids following the speeches.  A great time for them to mingle with guests and make sure they were enjoying themselves.

As times changes so has the bonboniere.  More and more couples give chocolates or a small gift which follows through with the theme of the wedding. Such as; beach weddings, you may give sea shells with your guests name on it.  Or a pocket of lavender potpurri for a garden wedding.

The ideas are endless and you don't have to follow tradition.
